The University of Tennessee and the University of Alabama have a long and storied rivalry in football. The rivalry has not been very competitive in recent years, as Alabama has beaten Tennessee every year since 2007. That includes this weekend 48-17 victory by the Crimson Tide. How do the two states compare in COVID-19 stats. Just like every recent October in football, Alabama is doing better this month when it comes to COVID-19 statistics. Whether you look at cases, hospitalizations, or deaths, when adjusted for population, Alabama is doing better than Tennessee recently with regard to COVID-19. See the graphs below. The difference could be due to the fact that Alabama has had a statewide mask mandate since mid-July, while Tennessee has only had some local county face covering requirements.
