Hospitalizations Due to COVID-10 Are Increasing in the Southeast, but Not Uniformly

COVID-19 cases are increasing throughout the southeastern United States, but some states are doing worse than others. Over the last month, Kentucky has experienced the largest percentage increase in people who are hospitalized with COVID-19, followed by Tennessee. See the table below for a comparison of the increase in the number of hospitalizations between September 25th and October 25th. See the table below.

The data for Tennessee have fluctuated significantly over the last few days – at least one news reporter has stated that the data for the 25th in Tennessee do not include all hospitals. If this is adjusted upward in the next few days, the number hospitalized with COVID-19 could be as high as 70% more than on September 25th. Fortunately, the mayors of Sumner, Williamson, and Wilson county re-enacted mask mandates over the weekend, and Rutherford county has announced a new mask mandate starting Thursday.
